Location: Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn (2-mile oval)

Point Standing: 25th (265 points)

Danica Patrick and the No. 10 Nature’s Bakery Chevrolet SS team for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) scored a 21st-place finish in Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Patrick started the event from the 25th position and fell back to 30th on the initial run as she battled a “loose in, tight off” handling condition. The team made a scheduled, green-flag pit stop at lap 39 for tires, fuel and air pressure adjustments. Patrick went a lap down to the leader during the long, green-flag run but was one of 19 cars that took the wave-around to get back on the lead lap when the caution flag waved at lap 46.

Just as a number of cars were making green-flag pit stops near the midpoint of the race, the caution flag waved, and Patrick was scored in the seventh position since the Nature’s Bakery team had yet to pit. Crew chief Billy Scott called Patrick to pit road under caution, and the team changed tires, added fuel and made air pressure adjustments to help improve the car’s balance. Patrick restarted in the 13th position at lap 106 and remained inside the top-20 until lap 129.

At lap 155 the No. 13 car, which was 10 laps down, appeared to get loose inside of the No. 10 Nature’s Bakery Chevrolet and drifted up the track into Patrick. She was able to keep her car off of the wall, but then the left front of her No. 10 clipped the No. 44 car. The team pitted to repair the damage, and Patrick returned to the track in the 27th position. In the late stages of the race she was able to pick up several spots and was scored 21st when she took the checkered flag.

“We had an OK day,” Patrick said. “It wasn’t good, but it wasn’t awful either. We’ll take the off-weekend to recharge and dig deep to try and do better moving forward.”

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet SS, led the four-car SHR contingent Sunday by finishing fifth.

Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Rush Truck Centers/Mobil 1 Chevrolet SS for SHR, finished seventh.

Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation/Monster Energy Chevrolet SS for SHR, finished 10th.

Joey Logano finished .889 of a second ahead of Chase Elliott, while Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski and Harvick rounded out the top-five. Carl Edwards, Stewart, Austin Dillon, Jamie McMurray and Busch comprised the remainder of the top-10.

There were nine caution periods for 46 laps, with seven drivers failing to finish the 200-lap race.

With round 15 of 36 complete, Harvick leads SHR and the series in the championship standings. He is first with 526 points, 30 ahead of teammate Busch. This marks the fourth straight week SHR drivers have been 1-2 in the championship standings.

Patrick is 25th with 265 points, 79 ahead of 31st-place David Ragan. Stewart is 35th with 152 points, 45 out of the top-30. If Patrick or Stewart win a race and finish among the top-30 in points following the 26th race of the season Sept. 10 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, each will earn a Chase berth. Harvick earned a Chase spot via his win March 13 at Phoenix International Raceway, and Busch secured his position via his win at Pocono.

The next event on the Sprint Cup schedule is the Save Mart 350 on Sunday, June 26, at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. FOX Sports 1 will broadcast the race starting at 3 p.m. EDT.
